But that would slow down sales of the Fire TV It's more likely that Amazon is blocking it because they want you to buy their Firestick. Google has zero reason for blocking Prime. Amazon has all of the reasons but for those of us with Chromecasts all over the house, I'm not replacing them with more expensive Firesticks. I see this as an Amazon thing to force people into their ecosystem.
A shame, I'm a Prime member and when they asked why I never use the video, I told them "because I'd rather watch movies on my TV than my phone and you have no Chromecast support. Ah well, I haven't tried Amazon Video yet.
I honestly don't get why the silver bit on the controller isn't utilized, I discovered during a botched reboot that it works just fine as a trackpad, yet nothing actually makes use of it even when streaming from the PC they have awkward mouse controls via the stick instead. Without chromecast support I'd like a good way to stream to my TV. Can anyone comment on the latency and quality of miracast dongles, especially the Microsoft one which I've heard is the best, or on other alternatives out there?
I'm also interested in miracast for general screen mirroring but I'm worried about latency. You don't need any fancy streaming protocols when you can just launch the app directly on the device plugged into the TV.
Then you have to deal with sideloading as well as an app that isn't remote friendly, as explained a few posts above. This release is for phones and tablets. You may be able to sneak it on a stick or box but the experience will leave something to be desired, if what all the folks who did it and still do in many cases for the various flavors of Netflix touch vs.
Miracast is hit or miss, especially for video streaming. Did they change that so I can watch them on my phone now if I want? Also, why did the Google PLay store delist it? Google didn't like the competition or something they do under-the-hood?
Uh, streaming is a delivery mechanism. If I own something on Vudu, I can: 1 stream it or 2 download it Netflix's distinction is that it's subscription.
Then you have amazon which is both subscription and purchase. Now I can watch all the latest releases in the Amazon Prime library all 7 of them from on my phone without worrying about running into the soft caps on my unlimited data plan Are you doing it through the app or directly on your PC? I've never run into download limits, but my downloading has only been within the walled garden on my iphone. I don't have to sideload anything on my Android stick That would be fantastic If it wasn't for the fact that the asshats at Google didn't put ANY expansion on the Nexus line of devices.
I love my Nexus 6. But even with 64GB its annoying as hell when it comes to storage. Quote: For some time, Amazon Instant Video was the only major American streaming video subscription service with an offline option, but the service used to come with a pretty big catch: you needed a Kindle-branded tablet or phone to download those streaming-only videos.
That changed on Tuesday with the relaunch of the video app, now simply named Amazon Video, for all iOS and Android devices. I've actually used it on my iPhone and iPad in the past year.
What I think is new is you can now watch Amazon Prime videos offline. The ones you get "for free" with Prime that you could only stream before. Turn on suggestions. Thank you, but how do I fully download a file? For what we lack in clout and respect we gain in the simple joy of sideloading apps, right Android users? Is software speech? Should a man in his seventies be able to dictate which apps are on your phone? These are all questions, I think we can agree.
